Underpainting

"Underpainting" with Kaytee Esser

In this class Kaytee will instruct students on her underpainting technique for the development of a painting. This was a method used by the masters to get the image for a painting down quickly prior to the application of color. A single color is used to map out the painting in lights and darks. The underpainting is designed to dry within the same day so that color can be applied the next day. This process uses one oil color and after the underpainting is dry, can be painted over using acrylic, oil , waterbased oil or alkyd paints.
Please call or email Kaytee Esser at 843-476-9059 or Kaytee@KayteeEsser.com

Society of Bluffton Artists

Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA)
“Art, Life and Change”
July 1 – August 9, 2008
The art work of Susan Citron

The Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) will present “Art, Life and Change” , the artwork of Susan Citron from July 1 through August 9. Citron was born in Manhattan, as were her parents, Grandparents and children. She attended the High School of Performing Arts, did live TV, Broadway, Off Broadway, and appeared in “Lenny” and “North by Northwest.” While at Hunter College and Cooper Union,(NYC) she was an exchange student at the University of Aix Marseilles, After receiving her degree as an electronic engineer, Citron raised four children while living in Los Angeles. Citron’s artwork is an expression of her experiences - the many careers, many locals, and many images that have influenced her creativity. Her work includes landscapes, still life, portraits, protest paintings, abstracts, 3-D, everyday visuals with the use of vivid color and she says “all my art reflects my life’s journey.” Susan continues, “ The different styles and mediums I use are always changing. I experiment in small, large canvases, oil, tiles, 3-d plastics, glass and acrylics, as I strongly believe art as in life is always changing. With every stroke I put on the canvas it is with the same passion of every breathe I take.”

The public is invited to a reception for the artist on Sunday July 6 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gallery where refreshments will be served. The gallery is located on Boundary Street in old Bluffton and is open Mon. through Sat. from 10-5.
